Play Resident Evil 2 with OWO Skin — on PC or in VR

BEFORE YOU START

IMPORTANT

The integration works in both flat-screen PC gameplay and VR. For VR, you will also need a compatible PC headset running through SteamVR or your headset’s OpenXR runtime.

INSTALLATION GUIDE

Install REFramework

With the game closed, copy dinput8.dll from the REFramework package into the Resident Evil 2 game folder, where re2.exe is located.

Add the VR files if you play in PCVR

For VR, also copy openvr_api.dll and openxr_loader.dll from the REFramework package into the game folder. Without these files, the game launches in flat-screen mode.

Install the OWO integration

Copy the reframework folder from the OWO package into the Resident Evil 2 game folder and merge it with the existing one.

The installation should include:
reframework\plugins\RE2VR_OWO.dll,
reframework\plugins\RE2VR_OWO\ and
reframework\autorun\RE2VR_OWO_events.lua.

Start your VR runtime if needed

If you are playing in VR, switch on your headset and open SteamVR or your headset’s OpenXR runtime before launching Resident Evil 2. REFramework detects the VR runtime when the game starts.

Connect Resident Evil 2 to MyOWO

Open MyOWO with your OWO Skin paired and calibrated, launch Resident Evil 2 and select the game card inside MyOWO to establish the connection.

OPTIONAL FOR VR

The OWO integration also works alongside RE2VR Immersion Enhancer 1.1. If you already use that mod, additional VR gestures such as drawing weapons from body holsters, reaching for magazines and interacting with the flashlight can also trigger haptic feedback.

Feel when the infected get too close

When a zombie or another supported creature grabs and bites the player, OWO Skin can reproduce a dedicated physical sensation, making close-range encounters feel even more immediate.

Feel your heartbeat when survival is at risk

When your health falls into a dangerous state, a recurring heartbeat sensation reinforces the pressure. The effect automatically stops while the game is paused or the inventory is open.

Feel the response of your weapons

MORE TO FEEL

The integration can also respond to healing, reloads, weapon changes, death, grabs from the front or back, leg grabs, flashlight interactions and pushing heavy objects. Additional full-game events include poison, burning, electric shocks and more.

PCVR EXPERIENCE

When used together with RE2VR Immersion Enhancer, OWO Skin can also respond to VR-specific gestures such as drawing weapons from body holsters, reaching toward shoulder slots, interacting with magazines and using the flashlight.
